Terrific Broth

Description
Terrific Broth is an enriched medium, which helps the recombinant strains of Escherichia coli maintain an extended growth phase and produce higher plasmid and protein yields.
Terrific Broth is suitable for non-selective cultivation of E. coli strains for production of high yields of plasmid DNA and recombinant proteins.
Terrific Broth is also suitable for selective cultivation of bacterial strains when appropriate antibiotics are added.
Tryptone and yeast extracts provide additional nutrients and growth factors required for enhanced growth of recombinant strains of E. coli. 
Glycerol serves as an additional carbohydrate source. 
Potassium phosphates prevent the drop in pH of the medium during bacterial growth.
Terrific Broth is suitable to increase the yield of plasmid DNA derived from E. coli strains, for non-selective cultivation of E. coli strains (for production of high yields of plasmid DNA recombinant proteins), and selective cultivation when appropriate antibiotics are added.
